Summer Skincare Routine
Keeping the skincare routine simple is so important to us. We don’t have time for the 10-step regimen, nor do we want to spend our free time that way. We avoid following trends and steer clear of the latest “must-have” products promoted by influencers. The products below are tried and true, and have used them for years. Our usual routine consists of a face wash, a serum when needed, face moisturizer and sunscreen (in the morning). We’re including links, but not receiving any commission.
Face wash
Stone Crop Cleansing Oil by Éminence - This oil-based cleanser has been a part of our routine for the last seven years. It removes impurities, including makeup, while leaving skin hydrating and supple. It’s specially formulated for sensitive and redness-prone skin. This product is worth the investment, a small amount goes a long way and there’s no need to follow up with a water-based face wash.
Foam Wash by Caudalie - Packing an oil-based cleanser can be messy, so this foam formula is great for travel. It’s fun to use, effectively removes makeup and impurities, and it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin. It comes in a travel size too.
Exfoliac Intensive Foaming Gel by Noreva - If you have acne-prone skin, Exfoliac Cleanser is great for balancing sebum and cleansing the skin. To compliment it, Noreva offers a BB cream from the Exfoliac series you can wear during the day without worrying about irritation.
Serums
Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum by Éminence - This serum is fantastic for brightening and hydrating the skin, especially during winter or in dry climates. It’s super light with a water-like consistency, and you only need a few drops at a time.
Velvet Skin Drink - Santorini Grape by Korres- This Greek brand became popular in the last few years because of its high-quality products. We received this serum as a gift from a friend and now it’s a staple in our routine. It improved our skin texture and made it smoother and more hydrated.
UV Damage Rescue Serum by Violette FR - This is the first product we pack in our vacation toiletry bag. Even with all the sunscreen and hats, getting too much sun can happen to the best of us. It is calming and it helps alleviate both the short- and long-term damage caused by UVA and UVB rays.
Moisturizer
Boum Boum Milk by Violette FR - This is the holy grail of our skin care. This moisturize does it all, it hydrates, soothes, and improves tone and texture. Boum Boum milk is the product that simplified our skincare routine from a 10-step process to just three. The special ingredient here is birch sap, which is known for its deep hydration while protecting the skin’s natural microbiome. We also love using it for the dry scalp, as an all-over body lotion, and even for adding a little oomph to our hair.
Effaclar Duo by La Roche Posey - This moisturizer is perfect for correcting blemishes and keeping oily skin hydrated. It is especially great for acne-prone skin in the summer. There is also an SPF version available.
Sunscreen
Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ by Round Lab - We all know how important sunscreen is, but finding a formula that is light and doesn’t clog pores is challenging. Round Lab nailed it with this sunscreen. Its lightweight formula absorbs nicely into the skin without leaving a white cast, making it easy to apply makeup over it.
Under Eye Care
Rejuvenating Patches by Patchology - After a long day in front of your computer, give your eyes some TLC with these patches. We use them all the time and wouldn’t dream of switching. Our undereye bags and fine lines are almost gone with each use.
Blue Pro-Retinol Eye Cream by Biotherm - This cream does an excellent job minimzing the fine lines around the eyes. It is a bit heavier and since it has retinol it should be only used in the evenings.
Lip Balm
Golden Dry Skin Salve by Lanolips - This is not just a great lip balm, it is also a great salve for dry skin all over the body. It contains lanolin, which works wonders on irritated, chapped and dry skin. It is always in our pockets, especially during the winter months or on the flights.
