How to Dress for the Holidays on a Budget

The holiday season is often overwhelming and expensive. We get bombarded with special editorials, discounts and sales, creating the pressure to constantly buy new things. But what if you can spice up your holiday outfit without breaking the bank?

By using the clothes you already have and adding a few fun accessories, you can make your outfit look festive, fun and elegant.

Here are a few ideas to spark up your inspiration:

Brooches

Brooches don’t come to mind as the most conventional accessories but they can be so fun. Carrie Bradshaw made them chic and I am sure you can pull them off too. If you are looking to buy a new one, Etsy and Amazon have some great options and I always find the most unique ones at antique stores.

Party Purses

My favorite way to elevate my outfit is with a statement purse. I like sparkles, sequins, feathers and lots of color. A statement purse adds personality and flair, it doesn't require a major investment and can be worn on multiple occasions throughout the year.

Bold Makeup

I know this is not everyone’s comfort zone, but when else is a good time to try that pink lipstick or a sparkly bright green eye shadow that’s sitting on the back of your shelf? I was always more conservative when it came to make up but Violette_FR and her videos changed that. I don’t feel shy or out of place wearing red lipstick anymore. I dare you to try new makeup this season and have fun with it.

Statement Tights

Colorful and sparkly tights can pull the whole outfit together and make it look more elegant. My favorite brand is Wolford. This brand is pricey but the quality is exceptional and they are so durable.

Chunky Jewelry

This is the best time to test out if chunky, sparkly, in-your-face jewelry is your thing. I fell in love with statement jewelry when Jenna Lyons made wearing a casual sweatshirt with sparkly earrings appropriate for everyday wear.

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories can add a fun and festive touch to any holiday outfit, but they can sometimes feel a bit out of my comfort zone. I've tried wearing bows and clips, but let's just say I end up feeling more like one of the founding fathers than a stylish party guest.

Remember that the most important part is confidence! Have fun exploring new ideas and let us know what you decide to try. We’d love to hear from you all.
